A successful therapy session depends on 3 key factors: mutual trust, respect, and a sense of comfort in the working relationship. This is the strongest predictor for a successful outcome irrespective of what approach is used in therapy. Hence my first few sessions will focus on getting to know you, your expectations, listening to what brought you in for therapy. I will also let you know what to expect from the sessions and kind of modalities I use.
Over the years as a therapist, I have seen the healing power of unconditional acceptance and a non-judgmental approach. In addition, creating a safe place to share some of your most personal feelings, thoughts, and beliefs and instilling hope to your situation, irrespective of how dire it may seem, are important to me. I am your greatest cheerleader and I constantly look for small changes that often make a big difference.
My ultimate desire for you is to decrease dependence or eliminate the need for therapy in the future by facilitating healing.
